   People won't follow you on Twitter because you tweet about your blog. People will follow you on Twitter if you tweet about interesting things. Since you currently have zero public on Twitter, there's no public relations value to it for you. Start playing with it and see if you like it: if you do, eventually you'll have enough followers to make a difference for your blog.

   People will also follow you on twitter if you tweet about that guy next to you on the bus. Try it!
