Does META Widget replace tags in template?

    I tried the META Widget; it brings up TITLE, but apparently nothing else. Is this to replace the META Tags in the template? Is there guidance as to how many characters are used optimally so it works effectively with search engine spidering?

    i think http://faq.wordpress.com may help in explaining what the meta widget really is. i use it to log in to my blog as it is easier to do so that way. it also has links to your entries and comments rss.
