I am thinking about buying my own domain name. I just started blogging in January of this year and I don't know how long I will keep blogging for. My question is, what happens to the domain name I buy if I stop using my blog. Would I have to keep paying for an unused domain name? Or will it just revert back to the domain.wordpress.com url?
The blog I need help with is anaarenas.wordpress.com.
If you stop paying for a custom domain name the URL will revert back to your base blog name once the domain registration and domain mapping expire.
All your content will still be on your blog

The ramifications of doing that is not just a reversion. All the domain links to all of your blog content in Google's indexed results will produce a 404 (page not found) when clicked if your do not renew the domain mapping upgrade. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/08/05/avoid-creating-404-pages/ My advice is do not purchase a domain mapping upgrade unless you are into blogging for the long term. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/04/02/do-i-need-a-domain/
