I have a registered domain (cathryn101.com). I am willing to buy the 10 credits needed to start the domain mapping process.
My question is once I go through the process would I be able to direct cathryn101.com/blog to my blog?
What would I need to do in order for something like this to work?
And will I still be able to add/edit/tag/etc. my blogs through wordpress?

Domain mapping is where your blog is here at wordpress.com but it looks like it is somewhere else - on another domain. So "yes" is the answer to the question that you pose. Also note that on a mapped domain hosted by wordpress.com all the same rules apply.
