Domain mapping will not reverse in Europe.

  1. Alright, I hope this is the right forum for this because what I seem to have encountered is a very strange problem.

Until recently I had my wordpress blog hosted on wordpress.com, like all beginners. I had mapped my blog to a domain hosted at Godaddy.com, called http://www.ReservoirWatchDogs.com . It all worked like a charm.

Now I wanted to switch to private hosting for more control. Everything seemed to work just fine, and last night I made the final step to link http://www.reservoirwatchdogs.com to my new site at godaddy.

The thing is, for some strange reason the domain is STILL mapped to wordpress, but only here in Europe! Whenever I try to access my site I get the following error message: Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

When my friends in America update it, howevever, it works just fine! They can see the blog, interact with it and even access the control panel. Everything works smoothly, but not in Europe!

    What could it be?

    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Adrian

  2. It seems like my site isn't even working in the states anymore. I checked with some friends. I'm really struggling here, my site has gotten quite popular in recent days and it's never been off this long... Any ideas??

  3. Can you please restate your problems?
Seems to me that all pages are working just fine with me.

  4. I still can't access the site! Whenever i try to go to http://www.reservoirwatchdogs.com all I get is:

Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

It seems to be a common problem around here, but I haven't found any solution. Some people say the site works for them, other say it doesn't. Mostly its my friends in america who say it works fine, whereas Im in europe (croatia) and it keeps on showing that error message.

  5. Did you accidentally blocked it from people in Croatia from viewing it?

  6. No way, I'm sure I didn't do anything like that.
It's just a weird, bizarre error. i did everything the way I was supposed to do, I unmapped and deleted my domain from my wordpress.com dashboard, and changed the dns nameservers on godaddy back to godaddy.

And it works fine in the states, but not here...

  7. Well that's just strange...

  8. :(

  9. Ok this is even stranger, but maybe it's getting us closer to the solution.

I just asked another friend in croatia to test the site and it works for her, she can access it just fine. Now i tried doing the same thing with my phone via my carrier's 3g network, and it works!!

however, it doesnt from my computer, or my other friends computer who helped me quite frequently with the site.

    ???

  10. How long has it been since the nameservers have been changed? It can take up to 72 hours for the changes to be effective everywhere around the world. You can track the changes at whatsmydns.net.

  11. adrianbronic,

As airodyssey mentioned, this sounds like it may just be DNS propagation which can take up to 72 hours. An easy way to test whether you're connecting properly as well is by using a traceroute. This will show you the path of connections from your computer to the IP of the server your hosted on. The final IP should be your hosting account IP address. Details on preforming this can be found here: http://x.co/Z1UL The Go Daddy support team would be happy to review the results of this or help in any other way too: http://x.co/gdsupport
