Domain name bought and shows up on Dashboard, but not reachable

I bought touchofjoyministries.org through wordpress.com when I opened touchofjoyministries.wordpress.com. I can see it in my Dashboard. But whenever I try to access it, I get "Problem loading page" from Firefox, along with "Firefox can't find the server". I've waited two days, thinking maybe it took a while. But now I'm convinced something is amiss.

    Please help.

The blog I need help with is touchofjoyministries.wordpress.com.

  2. It looks like your domain name registration has failed - I will flag this for staff attention to help you.

  3. I'm sorry about that!

Please try adding the domain again via Store -> Domains in your blog's Dashboard.

OK, the domain was gone so I did try to add it again. Result:

"Registration failed. Please go back and correct the following.

Sorry there was a problem registering your domain please Contact Support and give them this message: DBP validation failed for account 42156062"

  5. I'm sorry about that!

Please try one more time and let us know if you run into the same error.

That's failed identical attempt 3 or 4, with identical failure results, depending on how one counts. One definition of insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result. At what count do you usually try something different? Let's just imagine we are at that number right now, shall we?

  7. I have flagged this thread for Staff attention.

  8. Hm, that should have worked this time, especially after the changes I made.

Ok then, one more change made, and I'm 80% sure it will work now. Please try one more time. If it doesn't work, there is one more thing to try.

I would try both at the same time if I could, but that can't be done. I'm just working through the common problems starting with the most common and working towards the least.

At least I now know you are trying things between my attempts. That helps. Unfortunately:

"Registration failed. Please go back and correct the following.

Sorry there was a problem registering your domain please Contact Support and give them this message: DBP validation failed for account 42156061"

Please note the account number is now one less than before. I'm not sure if that is relevant, but it concerns me.

On to the next thing to try, if you please. Let me know...

I'm not sure if I can correctly enter a domain name so many times in a row. I've started triple-checking my typing - I fear when it finally works I will have misspelled something that time, and we have to start over:)

Seriously, you might have people put in domain names twice, like passwords.

  10. Ok, attempt #3 definitely did not work. I'll need to call in the big guns on this.

    Sorry for the trouble!

  11. We use http://www.domainsbyproxy.com/ for the private registration on domains. It appears that the password we have on file for you no longer matches what DBP considers to be the correct password.

Did you ever change your password at http://www.domainsbyproxy.com/ ?

Not me, but I started working on the site about a week ago. It is possible the previous web support person did. I saw that the first domain name associated with the account (www.touchofjoyministry.com) was registered using his own personal information.

He is out of contact with us.

If you can't fix this, I could try opening a new WP account, transferring the WP subdomain to it, moving over all the site content, and try from there to get the domain. Is that likely to work?

  13. I don't believe that will work necessarily, as the DBP password is for their account system, not ours.

Are you able to reset your password at http://www.domainsbyproxy.com/ ?

I abandoned this approach and bought the domain through another domain vendor and then attached it to my WordPress.com account. The whole process took 5 minutes.
