Domain registration: GoDaddy or WP?

  1. I would like to buy the domain name "throughagreenlens.com" for my blog. The .com domain registration is $10 per year from GoDaddy and $5 per year from WP. What accounts for this price difference?

I am new to this, so forgive me if I appear ignorant. ^_^

The blog I need help with is throughagreenlens.wordpress.com.

If you register a domain name here to use with your wordpress.COM blog so that it will show your new registered domain name, you also need the domain mapping upgrade, so the cost for the domain registration and domain mapping here is $15.

If you go with GoDaddy, you pay $10 for the domain registration, but then you also have to buy the domain mapping upgrade here to use it with your wordpress.COM blog, so the cost ends up being $20 per year total.

  3. But - we do not yet offer privacy on the whois information of your domain. So if that means something, go for GoDaddy (or others, there are many out there).
