domains and permalinks

  1. If I have a wordpress.com blog and do some posts for it, then buy a domain - what happens to the post title permalinks? Do they remain 'blogtitle.wordpress.com/date/etc' or do they change to 'blogtitle.com/date/etc'?

I'm trying to do a new blog (private for now, so I'd rather not give the URL of it til it's public) but will probably want to buy a domain for it soon, but should I want to link internally to any posts I need to know about this. Thanks.

The blog I need help with is artbyvalerde.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there,
    Sometimes seeing is believing.
    Click these links:

Seamless transfer between the .wordpress.com blog URLs to the same content under the domain URLs is what we pay for when we purchase a domain mapping upgrade and it's what we get. Do I Need a Domain?

  3. Okay - so the links just seamlessly transfer? Good, thanks.

What about on the actual post editor? Does it still show as 'wordpress.com'? after getting the domain upgrade?

Sorry if I'm a bit clueless. I know a heck of a lot about WordPress.com but not much about some of the domain-y sort of stuff! :)

    Thanks TiTi.

  4. Ah, it's okay, I've just read your reply to the first comment in your post linked here. I understand now. Thanks. :)
