I would like to create a link on a static page to download a .zip file. It is a collection of files (.tex, .bib .txt and .pdf files, about 100kb in total) which demonstrates the use of a sample LaTeX file. I expected to be able to upload this to the media library and link to it there, but was surprised to see that this is limited to a very small number of file types. Is there any other way to offer this .zip file for download? And incidentally, I'd be interested to know what the rationale is for WordPress.com limiting the file types like this?
If all else fails, I could put the file elsewhere and just link to it with a URL, but ideally I'd like to be able to keep it together with the rest of my site on WordPress.com.
Thanks in advance for any pointers!
The blog I need help with is justsamferguson.wordpress.com.
