Downloading articles from my blog

  1. How can a story on my blog be downloaded? When I tried to download my latest story it only showed up in gibberish. Any suggestions.

The blog I need help with is wiselawny.wordpress.com.

  2. How were you trying to download the stories?

You can upload M/S Word, Adobe PDF, and Open Office files to your media library and then provide a link for visitors to download the files

  3. Does that mean that there is no way that one of my readers can download a copy of an article I post so that they can either send it to friends, print it out or scan it.

Is the only alternative available to me to embed in the wordpress post a link to the copy of the story that I produced in microsoft word?

    thank you, dan wise

  4. How were you trying to download the stories?

What steps are you taking to "download"?????

  5. i went onto my blog. clicked onto the story. then copied the url for the story and the pasted it into my browser (firefox) and what I got was gibberish.

hope there is a clue in there.

    thanks, dan wise

  6. Don't do that. Just go to your Dashboard Settings Sharing page and add the Print button. Then people can click on it and "print to file" ie save your post, or print it on paper.

  7. 0ne other question. when emailing a story is there any way for the sender to include a message with the email.

    thanks,

    dan wise

  8. This is just what I wanted. so i have added an email button and print button and set it so that they both appear under every post.

  9. I am still having a problem. Is there anyway that when I email a post to others that I can add my own comment to explain why the article is important.

Alternatively, I don't see a way to save a blog article to my desktop when I click on the print button. If I could save it to my desktop then I could email it to others with a comment.

Your help so far has been invaluable. thanks, dan wise

  10. I am still having a problem. Is there anyway that when I email a post to others that I can add my own comment to explain why the article is important.

    No

Sometimes I will email just a link to an article I wrote to people - I will put in the email why they should read what I wrote or why the info is what they want - then I put a link to my article (Post) - no need to send the whole Post to anyone - the link makes for a smaller email

  11. what about downloading the article to my desktop. i don't see an option for that associated with the "print" button which i was able to add to the blog thanks to your assistance.

i already send notice of my new posts to others via email with a brief tease. But i am getting questions from my readers about how they can pass along my articles to others.

My readers are an older group and can be put off by references to links etc. thanks, dan wise

1/If your browser is Firefox, you can simply right click on your post and click "save-as". Then, you can read the file offline on your computer and you can email it as well.

2/If you are having problem with print, it is probably due to your computer's set up. Make sure PDF creator or similar applications are available on your computer.
