Downloading other themes for my blog?

  1. I recently came from blogger to wordpress and have bought a domain name etc, for more space to do my own thing.

I go into google and search wordpress blogs and there are loads...(free and paid ones) but how do I get them onto my blog? I dont want one that wordpress provides.

The blog I need help with is talesofaborderline.org.

  2. There is no FTP access to free hosted wordpress.com blogs. The ONLY theme we can use on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs are those we gind here > Appearance > Themes. Most are to some degree customization and the newer ones are highly customizable and have added features.

I think you will benefit form reading these entries >

  3. YIKES! I'm so sorry about the typos above. That should read like this:

There is no FTP access to free hosted wordpress.com blogs. The ONLY themes we can use on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs are those we find here > Appearance > Themes. Most are to some degree customizable and the newer ones are more highly customizable and also have added features.

  4. But I just bought a domain name today and upgraded?? It makes no difference? How can I fix it, can I transfer to wordpress.org with my domain name etc? I am so new to this.

  5. WordPress.com and wordpress.org are completely separate.

If your wordpress.com blog has contents and links then you can export them out of the blog and import them into a new wordpress>ORG install after you hire a web host and set up a site with a wordpress.ORG install.

  6. Re: Upgrade refunds

We want you to love everything you do at WordPress.com, so we provide a 30-day refund on all of our upgrades except Domain Registrations and Domain Renewals. You can request the refund yourself directly from your Dashboard.

  7. Each of the upgrades you buy applies ONLY to exactly what it says. The CSS upgrade, for instance, allows you to edit the CSS of existing themes, but not add external themes.

This is a shared blogging platform that works differently from Blogger; any change we could make to an actual theme would be experienced by everyone using the same theme here.
