Here's my post within the Themes Forum that describes, in detail, what I would like to achieve with the idea of having a Home Page for the Duotone theme. I think it is achievable.

I am unable to apply the duotone background. As in I want the background colour to change with every post. But in my case it remains the constant throughout. Please help!
