Duplicate Content on WordPress Hosted Account

  1. Hi, I am very new to blogging so forgive me if the answer to my question is very obvious.

Basically, I have a WordPress.com hosted blog and this morning I realised that not only were my posts displayed on the homepage but they were also at a separate url when accessed through the categories menu and under another url again once accessing through the archives links. Doesn't Google punish websites that have duplicate content? If they do, is there anything I can do about it?

I have added the More tag to my homepage posts, but there is still a large degree of duplicate content, elsewhere as mentioned above. Furthermore, my feed has the same content once again.

Ideally, I would like the use of a plugin etc. to restrict the Robots from accessing the duplicated pages but as far as I am aware there is not one that can do this on a free hosted account and I don't have access to robots.txt

Do I need to worry about all this and is there anything that I can do?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Kind regards

    Rich

  2. You are fine - it's how all WP blogs work and Google likes the way we do it.

  3. Thank you Mark - I shall stop worrying now! Do you recommend even the use of the More tag or not?

    Thank you

  4. There are so many SEO blogs (not wordpress.com blogs) that use it there cannot be a problem.
