Edin Theme - Front Page image height

  1. Hello:
I've been trying to reduce the height of the image on the main page using the Edin theme. I really like the Theme Demo height of image, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to replicate it. It always seems to come up a lot "thicker" (well, taller really).

I also tried it reducing the height of the original in Photoshop, but all that does is increase the size of the image without changing the aspect ratio, which is what I'm trying to do. Thanks for any suggestions!

The blog I need help with is theartisanbreadmaker.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there, it looks like the width of your image is the same as the one in the Edin demo, but the height of your image is 636px, while the height of the image in the Edin demo is 577px.

If you use photo editing software (outside of WordPress) to crop your existing image to exactly 1366px x 577px it might help.

Could you try that and let me know if it works?

  3. Hi Liz,

    Thanks for this.

    It worked perfectly for me.

  4. Wonderful. Glad I could help.

  5. Hello Liz...sorry, I just tried it and it didn't work for me. I've made the image exactly 1366 x 577 px. Doesn't seem to make a difference at all!

  6. @theartisanbreadmaker--that's so strange. I've talked to some people for whom resizing the photo works perfectly, and others like you for whom it doesn't work at all. Do you have the custom design upgrade? If so, I know we can fix it that way.

If not, could you tell me more about how you cropped your image? Did you do it inside of WordPress, or did you crop the image with a photo editor and then re-upload it to your media library?

  7. 1366 x 577 pixel works good for my website with Edin Theme, thanks!

    PN,
Might be helpful to include it in the "Quick specs" at https://wordpress.com/themes/edin/

  8. Hi there @theartisanbreadmaker!

The suggested size of the featured image for pages is 1230 x 1230 but note that the height of the image actually adjusts to the length of the text written on the page.

That being said, the reason why the image on your blog appears "thicker" is because it has more text on it. :) Try reducing the amount of text and the image should line up with what you see in the demo.

Hope that makes sense! If you have any other questions, let know. Thanks!
