edit theme

  1. I am in the free non downloaded admin panel of wordpress I can't find neither the edit theme link in the presentation sub panel nor the files link in the manage panel. Are these only available to those who download?

  2. you can change themes and you can add or remove widgets from withn the "Presentation" tab.

  3. -> Dashboard -> Presentation -> Themes will get you to the theme viewer where you can make your selection by clicking on it. Also note that we cannot alter the themes we choose at wordpress.com unless we choose to purchase an upgrade and change only the appearance by customizing the css and not the underlying php code.

It's important to understand the differences between wordpress.com and wordpress.org and as you indicate you are accustomed to the blog templates that can be downloaded free of charge from wordpress.org I would like to draw your attention to the pink sticky post at the head of the forum entitled "please read me first before posting" http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=3700&replies=1

  4. ok so basically i cant ad adsense to this version of wordpress right?

  5. Correct. WordPress.com blogs are non-commercial free blogs. They are different from wordpress.org blogs and different rules apply to them. In a nutshell the answer to your question is "no" we cannot advertise on our blogs here.
There is an exception but unless you intend to attempt to qualify and pay for a VIP blog along with other very notable bloggers like Robert Scoble, etc. I'm afraid that is your answer. http://wordpress.com/blog/2006/09/24/vip-blogs/
    http://wordpress.com/vip-hosting/
If you wish you can confirm this advertising restriction and the only exceptions to it by reading the FAQs blog search box response http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/12/08/adsense/ and by reading this thread from the official wordpress.com blog
    http://wordpress.com/blog/2006/09/06/on-ads/
However do not despair for if you wish to have a commercial blog your desire can be accommodated via http://wordpress.org. There you can either download a free blog template that you self host or you can hire a web host to do this for you.
I hope this clarifies these matters but if you need more information - post again. :)

  6. ok thanks

  7. You're welcome. If you consider this matter to be resolved would you please mark it so? Tx. :)
