Editing a comment with [sourcecode] tags messes it up

  1. I use the [sourcecode] tag a lot in my blog, but I find if I try to edit a comment a line such as:

    [sourcecode language="python"]

    becomes:

    [sourcecode language=""python""]

    (note the doubled double quotes).

Which unless sorted out manually messes up the comment when it is saved.

    Any solutions?

The blog I need help with is enigmaticcode.wordpress.com.

  2. I don't post source code so I apologize in advance if this does not answer your question > http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/posting-source-code/

  3. jimrandell.wordpress.com doesn’t exist

The address jimrandell.wordpress.com cannot be registered. Sorry, that site is reserved! But you can sign up and choose another one.

Can you please provide a link to a comment or post with the problem you describe, starting with http://

  4. I have made a post that to demonstrate the problem here.

  5. Oy! And Sorry. I thought I had an idea, but this is above my [volunteer] pay grade!

I will modlook this thread so staff can take a look at it…

  6. 1tess: Thanks.

  7. Shortcodes like that aren't intended for use in comments. I'll see if we can get that fixed up, but I can't make any promises at this time.

  8. Thanks for the response.

If you can get it fixed up that would be great. The ability to easily include code was one the main reasons for choosing WordPress for my blog.

If not, I can live with fixing up the arguments manually, even if it is annoying.
