Editing Footer

  1. I have tried to find help regards to editing the footer and I have tried some support pages, but I havent been able to edit the footer on any of the pages. Can I please have some more help and support regards editing it.

    Thanks

The blog I need help with is gwme.org.

  2. WHAT FOOT DO YOU WANT TO EDIT THE TEMPLATE OR WORDPRESS.COM?

  3. @tfamojuro-Please note that bloggers using the WordPress.com service are not to remove any credits from their blog's footer.

    Please see here: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/changes-to-blog-footer?replies=12

If you are referring to something else, please describe exactly what it is you want to do.

  4. Thanks for the replies. I want to edit the template.

@Jennifer: do not intend to alter the credits. Currently there is nothing on the footer in the actual page. I want to add links in the footer of the page (Yellow part) underneath the dots running along the page.

Ie page links and blogroll links near the bottom, similar to the list on the sidebar. Thanks

  5. Then I will have to leave it to the few forum volunteers who can assist with CSS questions. (Unfortunately, I am not one of them.) Hopefully someone will be by soon to help.

  6. One thing I should say, even with the CSS upgrade, you cannot edit the underlying PHP or HTML in a template. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/

  7. @tfamojuro
We cannot edit either themes or templates on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. The CSS editing upgrade does not allow for any changes in functionality at all. It's only for appearance changes and all CSS editing here is theme specific.

Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

May I further suggest that you read this entry very carefully? > WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The Differences > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  8. @timethief

Thanks for your entry, I have already purchased the CSS upgrade and paid for the hosting and mapping services. The CSS software has been helpful so far, I just wanted to know if anyone had any info regarding footer editing. And if not there's no problems :-) . Thanks for the links and advice! Thanks everyone else too :-)

  9. I would like to add a "footer" to each page indicating contact information. How do I do that? Christine

  10. You have to put that information into a text widget and then use position:absolute; bottom and left declarations to move that specific text widget (by ID#) down and into the footer area. You will also likely have to add height and width declarations for that specific widget.

  13. @babsss, you need to head over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG are supported.

These forums are for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM free hosting service and things here work differently (number one, we do not have that theme available here).

If you are not familiar with the differences, see this support document: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ .
