Editing my About page.
-
I have been trying to edit my About page but in the edit window I only get “This is an example of a page” etc, not the content of the page.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Go to > Dashboard > Pages > All Pages
hover over the About page title and click the “Edit” link -
That’s exactly what I’ve done, several times,as per the instructions, which I did read. And I only get “This is an example of a page” etc.
-
Are you referring to this page?
http://gertloveday.wordpress.com/about/
If you are then go to > Dashboard > Pages > All Pages
hover over the Page title and click the “edit” link. -
Yes I am. I repeat, I have done this numerous times with the result I have described. The contents of the page do not come up for editing.
-
Okay then this is weirdness that needs Staff assistance. They have a backlog. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Are you using a computer, phone, tablet or what? Are you using an app or a web browser and if the latter, which one?

Hi there,
Timethief was close! Can you try clicking on this link and see if it will open for you?
https://gertloveday.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1&action=edit
If not, let me know what does happen for you!
Thanks so much.
-
Thanks, but no. Still get “This is an example of a page.” I’ve been through some of the routine suggested but not all of it, but no change.
-
Hiya,
When you clicked on that link which I provided you, you should have been taken to a page editor which allows you to edit that “This is an example of a page” text. Once you are done doing so you can click the Update button on the right hand side of the page.
If you aren’t taken to that page, what page do you see?
-
I am taken to the “Edit page” page. But when I press the Edit link I still see only the “this is an example of a page” message. There seems to be no way to bring up the content of the page to edit it.
-
I have no idea what is going quite wrong here. I have verified that your username has all of the permissions that it should in order to edit that page.
I went ahead and just set it to draft so it isn’t appearing on your site anymore. Can you go ahead and log in to your Dashboard and then go to Pages and click Add new and try to create a new page instead? Let’s make sure you’re at least able to do that!
I’m so sorry for all of this inconvenience!
-
I can bring up “Add New” but I can’t cut and past what is already on the current About page which is appearing as draft (but which I still can’t edit- same “This is a page” message is appearing). Can you please restore the original “About” page and I will just live with the fact that I can’t edit it.
-
Sure thing. That has been set back to Published.
Are you having troubles editing any other aspect of your site? Can you edit posts, for example? Could you perhaps try using another browser to see if that works?
-
I usually use Firefox but have tried with Safari with the same result. I have been editing other posts okay.
I have been able to cut and paste the initial blurb to a new page, so I will play round with cutting and pasting the Comments and Replies as well and see if I can recreate the original page from scratch.
Thanks for your attempts to help me!
