I added the calender widget, but not sure how I can add events to it. Or does it just it automatically just update related to what I post? If so any way I can add a calender that lets me add events to it? Thanks.

Unfortunately, the calendar widget doesn't work that way. It highlights days you've posted on, nothing more.
You can add the RSS feed of a google calendar to your sidebar, and that shows events and is clickable, but you can't add the embed code for the calendar directly. You need to use a workaround.
