   We set up a new blog and it is private. The posted articles are also set as private. Does this mean that only those people invited can read the posts? Before I made the articles private, it showed that others were viewing our blog.

   If the articles are marked pubic yet are on a private blog can they be seen by others who are not invited?

   A person who is an editor says " I can get in and view it [a post]. I can select "leave a comment". But when I get the comment box, it won't let me type in the box. I can't even get the cursor to go there.

   The blog I need help with is wtpotusresearch.wordpress.com.

   Private sites are only visible to the people who have been invited to view the site.

   Private posts/pages are only visible to Administrators and Editors not site viewers.

   As far as the Editor not being able to comment, please point them to the browser issues Support doc. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

   Ok, do I have this right. The only people that can view our pages/articles are people that are invited. That is what privacy means.

   When we write an article and post it, is it visible to the outside if we don't check both of these items when we write it? Or must these two items be checked so they can't be viewed from outside. If we have a private blog, and click the visibility to be public..does that mean our "public" of viewers only, (it will be only admins and editors using the blog) or does that mean everyone outside of those who have permission to be there i.e. blogosphere.

   Status: Privately Published and Visibility Private

   I marked 12 articles as above, but they don't show on the sidebar for anyone to see the titles, and they don't show up in categories either.

   There is also no way to get from one post to a different posts unless we click on Home where it shows each of them with the title and first paragraph. There are no arrows at the top or bottom of the post showing there is another post after the one being read either.

   Do I need to change something to get the posts to show on the sidebar?

   No. If the blog itself is Private nobody at all from the outside can see it. You don't have to mark the posts Private as well. If you do, only people who have dashboard access can read them, not regular readers whom you've invited. They won't see it at all.

   Yes.

   Posts which are set as Private will never show up in the categories or archives. They are invisible except via the dashboard, basically.

   Since everyone at your private blog is an editor or admin, you should not set the posts as Private. You have privacy protection because you have a private blog.

   PS: if you see hits on your blog, it's not that we can see your blog. That's just someone coming to the page and getting the "this blog is private" warning.
