Even if they're Subscribed to the blog, I believe they'll only see notices of public posts.

Dear raincoaster,
That's correct that if subscribed they can see only public posts. Since several of us are collaborating using the same blog, we want to use private posts for discussions and notify everyone if there is a new post or a comment to an existing post. Any suggestions how this can be done?
