I tried to post to my blog via email and added the shortcodes for categories an tags and publicize off and none of it worked. Well, publicize might have since it hasn't yet shown up on my FB or twitter. But why aren't the other shortcodes working and how can I fix it?

If you want to paste what you wrote for your short tags here, we could take a look. By the way, the categories do need to match existing categories on your blog, but new tags can be created via email.

Thanks, supernovia. I think it's actually working. I'm not sure what I did wrong but it's all good now after several test posts.
But I am wondering if the short code [status private] worked. I received all of the test posts via email and I'm wondering if that's normal because it's my blog and I get emails of all the posts or if it's sending them out to anyone that subscribes? Obviously if it's sending private posts out to subscribers that's no bueno...
