Why are email subscribers not added to your total number of subscribers.

The blog I need help with is dribblingpensioner.wordpress.com.

  2. This is my understanding of the situation. The subscriber stats show you all the users that have active email subscriptions to your blog using the built-in email notification system on WordPress.com. They don’t include users that subscribed using a third-party subscription service or using RSS.

Your site stats page http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/ displays how many followers you have, who your followers are, as well as how many people are subscribed to post comments on your site. Dashboard > Site stats > Totals, Followers, Shares and click the active links
    Site followers: __ active followers
    Comment followers: __followers __following

    Followers
Number of readers following your blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/followers/ and blog posts comments. http://en.support.wordpress.com/following-comments/

If that is not what you see reflected on your blog, then Staff will be reactivating the support link on Monday so you could use the link then to contact them have them explain this to you.

  3. Timethief, I'm sorry, I hope it's ok if I ask my question here, it's connected to what you've answered.

Do you mean that if I choose to show the number of subscribers ( under the 'subscribe' button) it will show not only those who are subscribed to the blog but it also will plus the number of those who are subscribed to the comments of my blog?

  4. dribblingpensioner asked about the stats page - not the follow blog widget.

The way I read the entry on the Follow Blog widget is that the widget can be configured to show how many people have subscribed to your posts http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/

@ usyaka, TT is right, it only shows how many subscribers you have nothing else.

  6. Thank you both! :)

  7. Thanks dribblingpensioner. You're welcome usyaka. :)

TT, i see what you said and its right, i see all my subscribers ( all but 4 ) who are emailers on a different stats page, i think because they do not belong to WP.

I'm just wondering why they are not added as they have subscribed just the same as rss subscribers are not added to the total.

Maybe this is something the staff need to fix if they don't know about it.

Under the list of emailers names it says ( Download all as CSV ) what does this mean.

  10. It means you can download a CSV file. CSV files to import and export contacts. Spreadsheet programs like Google Spreadsheets and Microsoft Excel make it easy to create and edit CSV files.

anyone knows how to send a mass email to those who are subscribed to my blog? should I type 200 emails or is there a way to click email followers? thank you

  13. @projectsparetime
There is no means available from WordPress.com to mass email (spam) those people who chose only to subscribe to your posts. They did not choose to receive anything other than your posts by email, and where I live in Canada it's illegal to use an email address for any purpose other than what it has been submitted for.

ok thank you.. It is not for spam. I want to send them invitations to join because I am taking my blog 'private' and I will buy the feature on wordpress where you can invite more than 35 people.. Currently u can only invite 35 people (for free) but above 35 you pay a $30 fee.. So am I on the right track. I just don't want any more followers, and would like to keep our group private and invisible to search engines' crawlers.

    Great thank you!

  17. You can only send out 10 emails in each invitation batch but you can send out more than one batch. When a blog is made private, subscribers who are not users will not receive emails. Subscribers who are users (which is more common on private blogs) will still receive emails. You're welcome and best wishes with your transition. :)
