   We have successfully mapped our domain, http://www.wadebridge-exchange.org.uk/ to our WordPress site exchangewadebridge.wordpress.com, although it took a while to replicate.
   Our domain is hosted with FreeParking, and with advice from someone more experienced with WordPress, we have Edited the DNS record to:
   A mail 72.1.201.138
   A mail2 72.1.201.138
   MX 5 mail.wadebridge-exchange.org.uk.
   MX 10 mail2.wadebridge-exchange.org.uk.

   but our emails to the domain, specifically to [email redacted] are getting bounced straight back with:
   "Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.
   <[email redacted]>:
   Remote host said: 550 pointing to mailgate.freeparking.com. [RCPT_TO]"

   Please can anyone help us fix this, as it is very important that people can contact us.

   When you've mapped your domain, you need to set up Custom DNS records to connect your email with an outside provider, like Google Apps. Please read this http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#before-upgrading and then follow the prompts to set up your email.

   We have already edited the Custom DNS record, I've listed what we put in it in my posting, and I think we've done what it said, although since it isn't working I presume I've got something wrong!

   I'm sorry I'm not going to be able to help you with this. I would get the MX info from freeparking and use that.

   Also, since you have a paid upgrade (at least domain mapping), were you not able to reach Support directly via the Contact Support form? http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ They should be able to help you if after you followed these instructions http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/custom-dns/ and http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/ you are still not able to get your email set up.

   Hi car0lh,

   In order for the custom DNS records in Store -> Domains -> Edit DNS to take effect, the owner of wadebridge-exchange.org.uk will need to update the nameservers to point to ours:

   ns1.wordpress.com
   ns2.wordpress.com
   ns3.wordpress.com

   You can see more details about mapping an existing domain here:

   http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

   They're currently pointing to these nameservers (whois):

   ns3.ukdnsservers.co.uk
   ns4.ukdnsservers.co.uk

   Once the DNS changes propagate (it may take between 24–72 hours), the owner of the domain mapping upgrade can go to Store -> Domains -> Edit DNS , then add the following DNS records:

   A mail 72.1.201.138
   A mail2 72.1.201.138
   MX 5 mail.wadebridge-exchange.org.uk.
   MX 10 mail2.wadebridge-exchange.org.uk.

   Just in case, I'd also suggest confirming with your email host that those are correct. :-)

   I've resolved this by taking a different approach. Free parking only forward emails, to a single address. So I've removed my domain from the domains for the wordpress pages, and just re-direct to it from my domain, this also means that that the wordpress URL is masked. So my name servers are no longer wordpress ones. Emails now work, so all seems well, unless I've missed something.

   Hi Carol,

   Okay, thanks for following up to let us know.

   If you'd like to map a subdomain ( such as blog.wadebridge-exchange.org.uk ), please have the owner of the domain mapping upgrade reply to this forum thread and I'll be happy to help with that.

   With mapping a subdomain, you would only need to add a CNAME record, and you could keep your nameservers where they are.
