embed video

  1. How do you embed video in you're blog? I tried to, but when ever I save, the code disappears from the post. I there any way I can make it stop disappearing? I have seen flash movies on some wordpress blogs, but I can't put it on mine. Also why does it disappear?

  2. Where is the video hosted redgoat?

In the FAQ (I think) it says that you can only use youtube. Andy reckons that Google videos will work too.

It disappears because wordpress recognises the script and strips it as potentially unsafe.

  3. Videos hosted by Google and YouTube are supported. Videos hosted elsewhere offsite are currently not supported not are selfhosted ones. (ie you can't upload the file to your space here and display it)

If you would like to have support for another video supplier, may I politely suggest submitted a suggestion via the Dashboard -> Feedback option. Google support was added via this method.

    Hope this helps,
    -drmike

  4. thats what is wierd, the video was hosted on youtube, but I still couldn't post it

  5. What's the code that you are using? You can post it here if you put it between backticks. That's the key over tab key on a PC. Looks like this: `

  6. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KkAtRfA1UXc"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KkAtRfA1UXc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

  7. Please read the YouTube article I linked you to. It appears that you may not have. The link is also given in the FAQ.

    Good luck,
    -drmike

edit: This is that you shoudll be using for that link:

    [youtube=http://youtube.com/w/?v=KkAtRfA1UXc]

  8. Thanks! It works!

  9. What about metacafe?
    <embed src="http://www.metacafe.com/fplayer/149893/kids.swf" width="346" height="305" wmode="transparent" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed>

How do I add this code?
    Thanks

  10. If you read the posts above, the embed option is only available for videos at youtube or google video.

the EMBED tag is disabled for security at wordpress.com

  11. kinda lost---please help. i'm trying to embed a google vidoeo on my site---

    http://www.inglessingastar.com

however, it's not working. this is the code google gave me:

    <embed style="width:400px; height:326px;" id="VideoPlayback" align="middle" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=-5588769309909942423" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" quality="best" bgcolor="#ffffff" scale="noScale" salign="TL" FlashVars="playerMode=embedded"> </embed>

when i start writing a post, paste this code and save it, when i go to the site the page doesn't load correctly. am i supposed to put the html, and body tags on the post?

    please help, really stuck.

  12. chiloso, these forums are for those blogs hosted here at WordPress.com. You need to be over here for assistance as we run a different code base than you do.

  13. i'm running a blog hosted here at wordpress.com, and have the same problem.

The FAQ page regarding google video: http://wordpress.com/blog/2006/02/06/google-video/ report a feature no more present in google video.

The only option to get a code from google video give this string for the video examlple mentioned in the FAQ above:

    '<embed style="width:400px; height:326px;" id="VideoPlayback" align="middle" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=3728266100951844857" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" quality="best" bgcolor="#ffffff" scale="noScale" salign="TL" FlashVars="playerMode=embedded"> </embed>'

and obviously does not work because of flash embedding not permitted as far i understood right?

So how to solve thi problem?

    EDIT:
    i tried
    '[googlevideo=http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=3728266100951844857]'

    ... and it works =D

Have to find a way to set up custom dimension and allow full screen wich still doesn't work.

  14. i was able to get the code from google video but i did not know how could i get [googlevideo=. do i have to type it in my post?

  15. If you use the forum search box and the FAQs you will find that other bloggers provide instructions for you to use.
