As the person who started this thread, I want to thank you for resolving this issue and for keeping us posted throughout the process. It's greatly appreciated. Shall we change the status of this topic to "Resolved" or wait until everyone who encountered this problem is notified of the resolution?

    Happy blogging, everyone!

  8. Thank you for everything!

  9. Just saw that it's working again. Great! I'll be sleeping a little better tonight again ;-)
Seriously, my thanks to Macmanx and whoever helped solve this. I am really grateful for WordPress taking not just some security issue, but also the worries of us customers seriously.
@Macmanx: I guess you just deserved your "Happiness Engineer" label...

  10. Thanks.. macmanx
Likewise extend my apreciation to all who got this player working again.

Many thanks for sorting this out.
Out of interest (and I'm afraid I am not a techy) could someone explain why an audio player is a security risk ?
I'm sure that what I'm told is true, but I'm curious.
Obviously details of this particular concern would probably best not be discussed in an open forum. I'm thinking in general terms.
Please keep it simple for mere mortals as myself !

  12. Thank you for all of the information on this thread, and for keeping us posted about why the audio player had disappeared.
I have a question about what I am experiencing now.
On the home page of my site, the audio player is back, but on all of the other pages, there is still just a download link. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or will it be resolved in time?
The site is: http://picturesofinfinity.net and this is seems to be happening only in firefox.

  13. You're welcome!

I'd rather not, as other sites could still be using the player (it's a very common audio player) in an exploitable way.

On the home page of my site, the audio player is back, but on all of the other pages, there is still just a download link.

Is http://picturesofinfinity.net/star-sounds/ one of the pages where you're seeing just the download link?

  14. Yes, that's one of them, another is here:
    http://picturesofinfinity.net/nikola-tesla/ (bottom of page)
and every other page on the site that has sounds on it has just the download link where the audio player used to be.

  15. It seems to be working just fine for me.

Please make sure that you have Flash up to date: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

  16. @macnanx, thanks for your response. I updated Flash, and
the problem persists in Firefox. Also tried it with another
computer and it is the same, there is just a download link for the audio files. I don't understand why the flash player would appear on the home page and not on any others, and it seems to work in all the other browsers. Any suggestions?

  17. Would you please try with all add-ons and extensions temporarily disabled?

Also, do you see the Flash player at http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/ ?

  18. Sorry, I forgot to include a screenshot of it working for us: http://d.pr/i/gQmW/18uAjtlR

  19. I tried again with add-ons and extensions disabled, and still there are download links where the audio player should be. I do see the flash player on the page you linked to, and I also see it on the home page of my site. This is also what I see using another computer, a new laptop.

  20. Hm, we definitely see the Flash player in Firefox ourselves, so I can't think of anything else besides maybe just a configuration issue on your end.

  21. This is a link to what I see:

    http://picturesofinfinity.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/screen-shot-2013-04-05-at-4-41-43-pm.png

Why would the configuration issue affect only part of the site though,
and be the same with two different computers? I am not sure how to fix this, but thank you for looking into it.

  22. I'm really not sure to be honest.

Do you have third-party cookies enabled? http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

  23. Yes, it's enabled.

  24. Perhaps try temporarily disabling any system-wide security, ad blocking, or firewall software?

  25. I just updated Firefox to the latest version, and the audio player is back again on all of the pages. Not sure why this would fix it, but at least it's working again. Thank you so much for your patience and support!

  26. You're welcome!
