embedding Google calendar

  1. In spite of all workarounds (which are working fine): it still would be great to to EMBED a Google calendar (or have a calendar as a stand-alone widget) rather than have an RSS solution. Please do consider this as a feature request - I am not sure whether this is the appropriate place for posting this - could not find any other suitable section ...

The blog I need help with is couvengymnasium.wordpress.com.

  2. I second this!!!!!!

  3. I third this

  4. Noted :)

  5. Dear Happiness Engineers please please please can we have Google calendar embedding? It would work a treat for this page... http://transitionstourbridge.wordpress.com/events/

    thank you

  6. I'm posting link to the workaround just in case others reading this thread haven't discovered it as yet. http://helensnerdyblog.wordpress.com/2007/11/27/how-to-add-a-google-calendar-to-your-wordpresscom-blog-using-the-rss-widget/

  7. If you look back through the forums this has been a request many users have wanted for a very long time. There are many blogs that could benefit from this feature. I give props to the "helensnerdyblog" workaround but it is a little klunky and confusing and really isn't a solution to embedding in a page or a post. We have a shortcode for Google Maps, let's get one for Google Calendar! If for some technical reason it can not happen consider adding a new widget with Event Calendar type functionality.

  8. The likely reason for this lack of inclusion is probably due to the dynamic nature of the code required. See this support documentation entry to see what I mean. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

  9. me to want a googlecalender as a widget

  10. Would really like to be able to add a "calendar of events" page to the blogs. I don't care if it's a Google Calendar or a wordpress page calendar, whatever works!

Timethief, thanks for posting the work around to the Calendar problem. We just need to be able to post a calendar of events. Pulling one together with old html programs is a bitch.

  12. You're welcome.

  13. Another vote of support - really would like to be able to embed our google calendar!

  14. Google Calendar would be great!

    Google Calendar please.

  16. Lack of embedded Google Calendar is one reason why I've not migrated my entire website to wordpress.

In fact, it may be the only major reason!

What about linking the WordPress blog to a single-page Google Site that has an embedded calendar on it? What if you even tried to make the Google Site page look similar to your WordPress blog (colors, images, fonts)? Anyway that is what I am thinking of doing.

  19. Would LOVE an events calendar for my WordPress.com blog!

  20. Me too please. Either embedding Google calendar, or a separate event calendar widget.

  21. The RSS method works fine.

  22. Events calendar PLEEEEEEASE!!!!

  23. Yes please its essential to have a calendar of events.. Please!!!

  24. Pleaseeeee! It would be very useful1 :D

  25. I have RSS widget on my blog using Google Calendar. An advantage is that your Google Calendar entry is also being indexed by the Google Search. So, make a calendar entry, add your related blog post link in that particular calendar entry, and if someone stumbles upon this entry on Google Search, you will get a hit of unique view.

  26. @ismailimail
Thanks for providing that very useful additional information. :)

  27. google embed in wordpress please!!!!!

  28. I'm using the RSS feed trick for google calendars on two blogs. My question is, how to I get WordPress to stop showing past events without deleting them from the calendar?

  29. Yes, please, please, please give us an easy way to embed a Google Calendar! It would be so helpful for the PTO site I am developing for a school.
