Embedding Instagram images in a wordpress.com blog?

  1. Hi, I cannot figure out how to embed Instagram images in my wordpress.com blog. Copy pasting the Instagram embed code into the body of the blog post doesn't work and neither does anything else I try. I have the instagram widget on the sidebar and it's great, but I'd really like to be able to embed some images in posts. Is there anyway to do this? Thanks in advance! Blog address: http://6000onions.wordpress.com/ and Instagram address http://instagram.com/flissvert

The blog I need help with is 6000onions.wordpress.com.

  2. I experimented a bit and can get a link that opens the Instagram page for the photo, but not one that embeds the photo. -- To use the widget, you have to identify your Instagram account, which you can't do for a post. I imagine you can't embed an Instagram photo directly in the post, because of that. Anyway, I can't see how to do it either.

  3. Are you using the guide found in the support documentation?
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/instagram/

  4. You can embed an instagram photo. You just can'[t use iframe code. I personally hack the sourcecode, copy the image, upload it to the media library, then insert it in the post with a link back to Instagram.

  5. timethief, I tried to use the guide, but have you tried clicking the embed link? Takes you to a blank about page or right back to the source page. So that's a no-go, alas.

raincoaster, that is a wild roundabout method - but I think I will give it a try, thanks! Still wish there was a simpler way.

  6. mygothlaundry: yes, that's a bad link. It should point to:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/instagram/instagram-images/

  7. It's not a bad link. It's the main link to all the instagram support docs and anyone who reads can click it and immediately locate the specific link for images.

  8. azscvgs, thank you so much! That is exactly the information I was looking for and couldn't find.
