Enterprise Help - 2 Questions

  1. Hi,

    I hope I am not asking questions that have been asked before (I tried searching first). Anyway, it's been about 10 years since I played with HTML and I am trying to start a new blog. I bought the CSS upgrade so I can edit my theme. I am currently using the Enterprise theme and need help with two things.

    1. I want to remove the search box that appears in the header (the one that says 'go'). How can I do this?

    2. I want to change the colors of the top navigation bar. The dark gray colors aren't my style. I have been playing around with the codes and figured out to change the font colors, but I can't seem to get the color of the bar to change.

    Sorry for the newb questions! Hopefully I will get this soon! Oh, and please ignore the ugly background and header image, that's me just figuring out how to change things :)

    The blog I need help with is eat-drink-love.com.

  2. The CSS editing upgrade will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. It does not allow you to remove footer links to the theme designer or to wordpress.com. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM. Please be sure to read this article before starting your editing > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/

    Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you please be patient and consult resources and recommendations found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/#css-help while waiting for a Volunteer to help you. :)

  3. Search box at top.

    .header-right {
    display: none;
    }

    The top nav backgrounds are repeating images. You can either make new images, or you can do away with the image and just specify a color.

    This is what is there now.

    #nav {
    background: url("images/nav.png") repeat-x scroll 0 0 #333333;
    }

    This is what you would do to go back to just a color instead of the image. (Colors below are just placeholders and you can change as desired.)

    #nav {
    background: none repeat-x scroll 0 0 #CC0000;
    }

    Same goes for the lower nav section

    #subnav {
    background: none repeat-x scroll 0 0 #CC9999;
    }
  4. Thanks, Timethief. I understand how busy you all are and I will check out the other link you provided. I don't think I worded my question very well though because I do understand we can't change the functionality of the themes. And I understand the CSS is theme specific. So, let me try to explain further...

    When I was searching to see if my questions have been asked before I posted this, I looked at other people's blogs who use the Enterprise theme and don't have that "Go" box in the middle of their header image like you see on my page. For example, see this person's blog I came across while searching the forum: http://shimworld.wordpress.com/ . See, he uses the same theme I am using, but doesn't have that box in the middle of his header image. I want mine to look the same. Is that not allowed?

    And in regards to the navigation bar at the top, I don't want to remove it, I was just wondering if I can change the color from the dark gray and light gray colors to something lighter. If this is not possible, can someone please recommend a different theme that will allow me to get the look that I want? I tried Bueno, but I hated that I couldn't figure out how to hide the title being printed at the top. I just want to use my own image without the title being there also.

  5. @thescaredpath - THANK YOU! Exactly what I needed! :)
