Excerpt module missing

  1. When adding or editing a new post, I am not seeing the excerpt module described at http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/excerpts/

Immediately under the post editing window is a module labeled "Likes and Shares". But that's about it--no excerpt module is visible.

Is there possibly a way to add this to the post edit page?

My theme is Coraline, if that makes any difference

The blog I need help with is doylebarnett.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there!
At the top of the screen while in the post editor you will see "screen options"
in the upper right of the screen click on it then choose "Excerpt"

  3. And the theme does make a difference: Coraline doesn't support custom excerpts. See here which themes do:
    http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/the-excerpt-function/
Or use the more tag instead:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

  4. Thanks very much to sl1k and panaghiotisadam!

That pretty much takes care of it..

  5. @doylebarnett You're welcome!
