Hi there,
I would like to know if the use of the "export" function to create a backup will erase my data on my blog?
Thank you,
Sophie

It will essentially just create a back up, it won't touch your current data on the blog just save it to your computer.
Hi Sophie. Doing an Export does not delete your data. It just creates an XML file with the contents of your blog. (By the way, it does not include images).
Sorry, ardpete... Now it's my turn to double post ;-)
Haha no worries :)
@moncherwatson
When the export file is imported into either another WordPress.com blog or into a WordPress.org install you will be asked if you wish to have the attachments (images) included.
The Export function should include the text of my blogs:
<!-- It contains information about your blog's posts, comments, and categories.
-->
Unfortunatelly, the blog's posts are not included in the XML file.
I red an error message with regard to the backup function.
Q: Is the softare for Export not function properly too?
