Hi,
I want to move to my own hosted WP implementation, but I dont want to loose my current wordpress.com blog entries and images etc.
Is there a way I can export my data from my WP.com blog and import it in to my new WordPress (self-hosted) blog ?
WordPress.com is an easy way to start blogging. Get a blog, check out our features, read the latest announcements, choose from great themes, or learn about the team behind it.

By typing "export blog" into the FAQ search box I found these. The FAQ's are overflowing with very useful information, and they cover most questions bloggers have.

Hi,
I checked out all of those, and a few others. None of them, it seems, makes reference to saving widgets, e.g. RSS and Links.
I'm setting up a new blog at the moment. I'd like to develop it on wordpress.com, but ultimately I'd like to move to self-hosted wordpress.org. Will the export file contain everthing, or is it just posts and comments?
TIA for any advice...
Just posts and comments as far as I know.

Yes, posts, pages, categories, tags, comments. Links have to be exported/imported separately.
