f8-lite, problem activating Theme

  1. Hi all,
new to wordpress but not computers. I have downloaded f8-lite as I want to setup my photography site using it. Setup ftp and copied the files over to my wp-content/themes folder without issue. when I go the next step, to active the theme I cant find it anywhere in the lists. How do I make this Theme active please?
    Anxious.

  2. You can not upload your theme here on wordpress.com you'll have to chose one of those 170 themes available here.http://theme.wordpress.com/
Wordpress.com is different from wordpress.org where you can upload theme of yours.

You are posting to the wrong support forum. We cannot help you here at WordPress.com. To get help iwth installing a theme on a WordPress.org install post to this forum please > Themes and Templates

  4. Oh, I had no idea there was a difference, no i'm totally confused as to what to do.
    I have a wordpress.com account and now created a wordpress.org account.
Only .com has the software from what I can see to change the website.
I will se how I go on .org. sorry for the confusion, I though you were all the same

  5. Wait. Creating an account at WordPress.org doesn't mean your blog is a WordPress.org one.

http://naturalphotographyoz.wordpress.com/ is a wordpress.COM site. You can't add external themes to it; all the themes you can use are on your dashboard under Appearance. Why not try to get a refund for the theme you purchased but can't use, select a theme here you CAN use, and just get started blogging.

  6. Thanks everyone for the advice. I have found the .org is much more flexible than .com so I am in the process of making the move. the theme I wanted was free and im not happy having a .wordpress.com url anyway.
I should have read more before signing up. Had no idea there was two sites, same names and such a difference in systems.

    Thanks everyone.
    Signing off

If the only reason for moving is the "wordpress.com URL", you can map a domain to a wordpress.com blog. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

  8. Not the only reason, .org is more flexible.
