FaceBook connection...

  1. Hi,

I notice on my FaceBook page that my blog was not sent there as usual.

I went to Word Press, Dashboard and clicked Edit post. It says I need to reconnect with FaceBook.

I go to Dashboard and check but the connection is fine.

I go back to post, hit authorize connection with Facebook and got this message:

    Error Accessing Dashboard

You are logged in as "lisavproulx" and do not not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for "Global Dashboard". Please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.

    What's happening?

    Thanks! :)

    Lisa

The blog I need help with is lisavproulx.wordpress.com.

  2. Hello there,
I have flagged this thread for Staff attention as we Volunteers cannot help you with this sissue.

  3. I see you are still waiting for a Staff response. Perhaps you would like to try an alternative to using Publicize. If so you can use Networked Blogs http://www.networkedblogs.com/ or RSS Grafitti http://www.facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti for posting to Facebook walls if you prefer.

RSS Graffiti periodically checks the RSS/Atom feeds that you specify and posts any new entries it finds to the Facebook Walls that you specify.

You can get any feed written on any wall (Facebook Profiles, Fan Pages, Groups, Events and Application Profile Pages). In fact, multiple feeds to multiple walls. You choose the combination.

  4. I would like to connect my blog to my FB page also but after reading your explanation, I am totally confused. I know nothing about Feeds, or Networked Blogs or RSS et al.

  5. @swampcatquilter
My explanation above to lisavproulx is made to a person who is having issues with a connection she previously set up. She is not starting from scratch as you are.

Facebook Integration > Please read the information and proceed as indicated, understanding that those who answer questions here are multitasking and not in a position to mentor any unpaid clients while they work. :)

  6. I'm having the same problem - I check the Facebook box, but then I get a message that I need to connect to FB. I click on the link in the message, it tells me that I am now connected, but it still doesn't show up as a checked box when I update the post. (It also doesn't post in FB)

I am quite confused, as when I go to the "Sharing" page on the dashboard - like the previous commenter - it shows that I am connected to FB.

This just started happening; I am wondering if it might have something to do with having to update my Facebook page (I had to choose a new password, per their request). I am still able to share through Twitter.

ANY help that you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

  7. I tried getting some help from the staff and I got one post that said anytime I need help they are here. However, in a separate email I got an admonishment to use the tutorials, and with the following comment by the same staffer who said they would help anytime:
:Please read the information and proceed as indicated, understanding that those who answer questions here are multitasking and not in a position to mentor any unpaid clients while they work. :):

I just went to my FB profile and found it is now the new timeline format. I hat that one! It is so confusing! Definitely NOT user friendly!
Will try the connecting to FB again today and see what happens. What these staff members don't realize is that there are people who learn better by example than by the written word!

  8. @swampcatquilter
I am not Staff. This is a peer support forum and I am a Volunteer ie. a fellow blogger. I did not email you. We Volunteers do not provide support by email or by telephone.

I'm sorry Facebook timelines are confusing to you but we don't provide support for them here at WordPress.com. These are the instructions for Facebook integration.

  9. Teresa - I just realized that at the bottom of each post it has a "share" button for FB , twitter, etc! Just click on FB and it will load your post to FB.
    Hope that's clear enough.

  10. Please also note that I clearly stated above in this thread:
"I have flagged this thread for Staff attention as we Volunteers cannot help you with this issue."

Further note the notice Staff have placed at the support link today:

Support will be closed over the weekend. We will reopen on Monday morning, March 19th.

  11. You can post a Facebook badge in your sidebar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-badge/

Youcan go here > Appearance > Widgets > Facebook like box widget and install the Facebook like box widget for Facebook fan pages.

You can also enable sharing buttons on your posts, pages and index pages.
    Also note the “like” button.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/

You can have both Facebook like & share buttons on your posts.

You can set up Publicize and publish to your Facebook profile page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/

  12. @lisavproulx
I want you to know that the issue you created this thread to get help with has not been forgotten despite the off-topic posts in this thread.

You are logged in as "lisavproulx" and do not not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for "Global Dashboard". Please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.

You need Staff help and this thread has been flagged so Staff do take note of your issue and help you as soon as they can.

  13. @timethief - The problem that I am having is that I already have all of that stuff set up; when I get ready to publish a post, I click on the box to "Publicize" the post, but it isn't allowing me to do that. (I was able to do that until a couple of days ago)

And it is still doing it, even after I restart my computer.

I am just glad that I'm not the only one who is experiencing this problem!

  14. @teresainfortworth
Have you tried the full reconnect procedure detailed at http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#reconnecting-facebook including step 3 (removing the FB app), which is probably the most important step?
    see also > http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#troubleshooting

  15. @timethief - Thanks! I think that took care of it! Appreciate the help -

  16. @teresainfortworth
That's good to hear. Best wishes with your blog. :)

  17. Thanks! Here's a Saint Paddy's day gift in appreciation - an arrangement of "Danny Boy" that will melt your heart (by someone totally unexpected):

    Hope you like it!
    And thanks again -
