I'm trying to set a featured image and it's not taking. I've attached featured images to many other blogs. The image I'm working with is within the size parameters. My theme is Twenty Ten. I can't figure it out. Please help.

I haven't worked with that theme directly, but I believe the Featured Images go to the header on individual post pages, rather than being displayed on the main page as in most themes.
That is correct. And the image is not going to the header on the post that I'm setting the image to. That is what is maddening.
Is the image that you are setting as your featured image in the post the size of the header image that is required for the theme that is listed at appearance > header? It needs to be the exact size (width). If the image is smaller, it will not be used as a featured header image.
