Featured Image Slider CSS Customization

  1. Hello!
    I am currently using the forever theme. I am planning on setting up some sticky posts so that I can have the slider on my blog and am wondering if there's a CSS snippet to make that slider be on the left side of my front page, instead of having it on the top! Hope it's possible so I can have the slider on the left side and the Recent Posts "Últimas Noticias" widget on the right. I would appreciate any help!

    The blog I need help with is vlogazul.com.

  2. I do think it's possible, but it would take some work and getting a larger than typical amount of work put into a snippet of CSS that will do it for you is a little outside the scope of this support forum.

    What we can do here is help you get started with small things, help you learn, make sure the tools are working properly, things like that. To get help with a larger task such as what you've asked for, it would be awesome if a community volunteer wanted to help you out by giving it a try.

    Otherwise, you might consider hiring a designer to do a task like that one. There are companies setup that will price out small customization jobs like what you're asking for. See http://en.support.wordpress.com/customize-my-site/request-theme-customization/

  3. If you want to break it up and work on it together as you go, that would work.

  4. for the mean time I already set up the sticky posts and I already have the slider on the top just under the navigation bar!

  5. Since I already set up the slider with the sticky notes, for the mean time I will just prolly leave it like that. Now am just wondering is there a snippet to make the text inside the slider be white and bolder? But just the text of the slider and not the text of the other posts without sticky notes. I will appreciate any help.
    Thanks

  6. This will make the titles on the slider bold and you can edit and change the color as desired.

    .feature-title a {
        color: #00c4dd;
        font-weight: bold;
    }
  7. Thank you very much it works perfect!
    Just another quick thing, am wondering if there's a way or a snippet to have the widgets, in this case the recent posts "Últimas Noticias" widget on my blog be and have the same style as the Recent Posts on the Opti Demo theme. I would appreciate any possible help.
    Thanks

  8. Yes, you can make it resemble the recent posts widget on Opti. How far you want to take that is up to you. The following takes the design of the "Últimas Noticias" specifically closer to what is in Opti, but also honors the design of the widgets in Forever so that it will not look out of place. Add the following to the end of your existing CSS.

    #recent-posts-2 .widget-title {
        background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #EFEFEF;
        line-height: 40px;
        margin-left: -8.5%;
        margin-right: -2%;
        padding-bottom: 0;
        padding-left: 0;
    }

    #secondary #recent-posts-2 > ul {
        list-style: none;
        margin-left: 1em;
    }
  9. It worked perfectly, thanks!
    just wondering can you add the blue bullet points I had next to the posts title names just like on my past style (Like this •Text) on that particular "Últimas Noticias" widget? Thanks in advance

  10. Also another thing! Is there a snippet to have the tittle of the posts bolder? For example: under the slider there are like 4 posts with blue text as tittle, how can you make that tittle be bold? And also when you click on one of those articles it takes you to it, and the tittle appears in black text, can you also make that be bold? Thanks

  11. Hmmm, sorry, I thought I had replied to this. I guess I went a step too far in making it look like the other site widget. :)

    Remove this from the second rule I gave above and your bullets will come back.

    list-style: none;

  12. Thank you very much!

  13. This will make the titles on the posts bold, both on the main page, and on the single post pages.

    h1.entry-title {
        font-weight: bold;
    }
