Files associated with deleted post still available on the internet

  1. I deleted a post on modulenotes.wordpress.com in January which had two powerpoint presentations associated with. The files are still available to search engines even though they do not show on the blog. How do I get the files removed as they are causing me an issue?

The blog I need help with is blog.mbbka.org.uk.

  2. Hi there,

See here first bulk delete images & media http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/deleting-files/#bulk-deletion
Then here's how to permanently delete Trash from your uploads folder >
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#deleting-permanently

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blog content does not remove it from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 - 6 months.

  3. Thank you this sorted my issue. It took up to 48 hours for the files to be actually deleted by WordPress after doing a delete permanently.

  4. You're welcome. Note it takes time for caches to be flushed here, there and everywhere on the internet.
