Finding a Theme

    Hi all,

I'm working on a library-based blog, and would like to find a theme that will showcase this topic. I have been searching themes, but thought there might be someone who has seen one that will work. I wish there was one of pages turning, or something like that.

A bookcase, books, anything like that would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    ~B.

The blog I need help with is onceuponatimeandfaraway.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi. In order to assist you, we need the URL of your blog, starting with http:// please. Thanks.

Ok, I guess I thought it would show up the way it does when you post. I'm new...and tired. :)

  4. Thanks for posting the URL. As your blog is a private blog we Volunteers cannot view it and provide any assistance with it. This is the link to the Themes Showcase and live demo site. There you will find over 150 themes and search filters. Most themes provide for custom headers. Others provide for custom backgrounds and many provide both. All you have to do is locate images that you can use that depict what you want. Some are free themes and some are Premium themes. The Chapters theme is a premium theme you may be interested in purchasing.

There is a theme with the header showing a row of old books on a shelf, it's called
    Pilcrow by Automattic

I agree a blog about libraries might benefit from the graphics and layout of Pilcrow.

  7. Many are using Pilcrow and displaying that header. If you want your blog header to stand out then you can find many free images of books and other library images online and use them to create a custom image header.

Do you know how to take digital photos, download them and readjust them? Perhaps ask another staff member to do this for a WordPress theme that provides a custom header for a blogger.

    I would recommend:
    Pilcrow
    Vigilance
    Twenty Ten
    Twenty Eleven

These are wide theme layout that an organization needs with different services and sub-topics on 1 page. Also with choice of 2 or 1 column on right or left plus footer widgets.

If you have developed hands-on relational databases, then once you get past the hurdle of setting up the blog, it will be easy ..and fun. Your greatest challenge is populating it regularily with content that catches your local users. (Hope you've got time..!)
