First post has a messed up margins and title

  1. Recently, I decided to take a look at my homepage and I noticed my most recent post (weekly photo challenge: color) has a messed up margin—the text is in the margin where the date and comment number are for most posts. Instead, the full date and comment number appears under the title itself.

I have also tried previewing my blog in other themes, and similar problems happen with this post. For example, in the Little Story theme, this post doesn't have the usual title banner and has no text excerpt. (The text excerpt is the title, a link which leads to the actual post.)

I am using the theme Yoko right now.

  2. You have a browser related issue because I'm using Firefox 20 and I don't see what you describe.

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these four things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:

    2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

    3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ and also post any error reports you get.

  3. Oops! I clicked in again I now I see what you mean. You may have a post formats issue or you may not. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/post-formats/ Which post format did you set your the posts in question? You may need to go into the post and change it to Standard format to have a title display. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/

  4. Quite aside from that I see another issue.

All reasons for non-appearance of posts on Topics pages can be found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts
As you have assigned a combined total that exceeds 15 Categories/Tags to your posts, you need to edit and delete. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ After removal note it may take several days for your posts to begin displaying there.

For tips on tagging see > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/03/15/quick-blog-post-tagging-tips/

  5. Hi timethief! I found out my post had been set to "Image," not "Standard" and now it seems to be fixed! Does it look fine from your end too?

And if you don't mind, could you explain exactly what you mean by the other issue you are referring to? Thanks.

  6. Yes. That corrected the appearance.
Because you have assigned a combined total that exceeds 15 Categories/Tags to some of your posts, you need to edit and delete. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ After removal note it may take several days for your posts to begin displaying there.
