Fixed Start Blog

  1. Hello,

is it possible to have a fixed start blog if sombody goes to the mainpage of my blog? If I write a new article it will be at the top of my blog. Thats not what I want. I want a startsite which I can manage and not the newest Blog as start site.

The reson is simple. I could write in a fixed startsite some intrdocution what it is all about and I could make a kind of index with links to my articles.

    Thanks
    Greetings

    Adrian

The blog I need help with is herbststurm.wordpress.com.

  2. The site linked to your name is not a WordPress.com blog. We need a link to your WP.com blog in order to help.

  3. Hi,

The Page I linked is my homepage. Here is the url to my blog http://herbststurm.wordpress.com/

  4. Make the main post a sticky. see my blog. When you write your post you'll see the option to stick it to the main page - just click that option.

  5. Here is the support document for making a static front page:
    http://support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

In my opinion, in your set-up, it is not a good idea: your readers will have to click through that static page every time they want to read your blog. That is an extra click and loading time, and could discourage readers.
I'd make a page with an introduction. And an archives page with the archives shortcode:
    http://support.wordpress.com/archives-shortcode/

  6. Oh, and obviously add a "pages" widget.

  7. You don't want to set large numbers of posts as sticky posts as it will after a while end up breaking your blog.

You will likely want to set a static front page and then follow the directions in the second link below to set up an index in the order you want it.

  8. Too slow was I.

  9. /nod to tsp: we are chasing each other!

  10. It works. Thanks to all :)
