fixing permalinks after move

  1. I moved my blog from .com to .org. Everything worked fine except the permalinks. I looked at the section on using permalinks but I can't make heads or tails out of it. What I need to happen is when someone clicks on a link in google it redirects to my new domain and not to a 404 error

Can anyone explain how to fix this in simple language? ;-)

    Thanks,

    Bernie

The blog I need help with is theprogressivecontrarian.com.

  2. You must choose the same permalink structure that your had at WordPress.com.

  3. Thanks, but I don't see any permalinks on the .com site

  4. ALL the links to your blog posts are permalinks. Your new blog has configurable permalinks, but if you link to your old WP.com blog, you have to set them to be the same structure as here.

  5. Thanks. I'm sorry to be so dense, but I can't find permalink settings on the .com blog like I can on the .org so I don't know what those settings are.

  6. There are no settings on the WP.com blog. They are not adaptable. You just have to look at the format of the links and make sure the format you select on the settings of your new blog is the same.

  7. Ah, thanks again.

  8. Hey I fixed it. thanks thanks.

    Bernie
