Flounder theme color difference betwen wp.org/.com?

  1. I used the Flounder theme on my free wordpress.com account and it had a nice feature where after you upload a header, you click a button and it automatically adjusts the color scheme to fit the header, as well as allowing you to change the background color.

Now, trying to use Flounder on my wordpress.ORG account (hosted on my own server, etc.) it has FAR less options. Literally the ONLY color option under "appearance" is the ability to change the text over the header icon. I looked through the CSS stylesheet and the only background color options were for posts, not the overall background of the site.

I'm really NOT good at CSS at all, but I mean, I can swap out colors. I just find it really, really odd that after paying to use wordpress, I have less control over the appearance of my site.

Does anyone know how I can change the colors? Or why this difference exists?

  2. For help with the WordPress.org version of the theme you must please post in the WordPress.org support forums as we cannot help you with that here. WordPress.com and wordpress.org are completely separate and different: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You can find the WordPress.org support forum here: http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don't already have a username on that forum, click the register button in the upper right corner so you can post in that forum.

  3. It sounds like you're referring to the WordPress.com feature called Custom Colours. Self-hosted sites don't have that feature built in, but you can modify colours with CSS using a custom CSS tool like the one available in the Jetpack plugin.

If you'd like help with customizing colours on your self-hosted site running Flounder, you might want to ask for help in the Flounder support forum, as kokkieh mentions above:
