Formatting Does Not Stay

  1. Ok, this has happened twice today on two seperate posts. formatting, such as bold, italics, spacing, and links have all begun to clump together after ive posted the entry.

an exaple, such as this paragraph break, will disregard the command and simply clump together with the previous line. the entire post will become bold or italic if i choose them. often times, not just today, links of pictures or just to sites i put in manually, will somehow select the rest of the paragraph as part of the link.

how do i fix this? ive tried editting the post several times before and after publishing, but nothing seems to work.

    thanks

  2. Can you give us a link to the post in question? Starting from http.

  3. I have also gotten this problem on two Blogs that I have edited!

  4. Is this the blog you are talking about: http://frederickpac.wordpress.com/ ?

If so, I can see you are using Mac. The TinyMCE editor that wordpress uses for writing pages and posts is not fully compatible with Safari and you will find problems in other areas as well.

I would suggest downloading the Firefox or Camino or Flock browsers as they are the most compatible with wordpress.

    Firefox: http://en.www.mozilla.com/en/
    Camino: http://caminobrowser.org/
    Flock: http://www.flock.com/

Alternately, you can go to "my profile" in the upper right of your dashboard and uncheck "use visual rich text editor," click "update profile and then you will be doing all your writing in code view. Some, including myself, find this a little confusing since in addition to the text of your post, you will see all the html code for your formatting.

Another alternative is to use an offline blog editor. Timethief has rounded up all the most popular editors and listed them on her resources blog at: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2007/10/26/offline-blog-editors-reviews/

  5. Another suggestion is to not copy and paste from any website or another program such as Pages or MS Word. Also, don't use Textedit in RTF mode. The code that is brought in will cause issues. If you must paste from another program, use the "paste as plain text" button on the extended visual editor tool bar.
