Formatting post/page when inserting polls

  1. I like the ability to include polls in my posts. I am new to WordPress and am not a programmer so this may sound rather simple.

    I want to be able to insert the polldady poll and wrap the text around it. I am used to MS Word's capability to insert say a photo and then use the formatting feature to keep the image "in line with text" or to wrap the text "square," etc.

    Word will also allow me to position the inserted object left, right or center.

    How would I do this in WordPress?

    Thanks.

    The blog I need help with is txpeeves.wordpress.com.

  2. For a left-aligned poll with wrap-around, you'd use this in the HTML editor:

    <div style="float:left;margin-right:24px;">
    POLL SHORTCODE HERE</div>
    WRAP-AROUND CONTENT HERE
  3. thanks. That was not difficult at all. Can you give me the code for placing the poll centered or on the right side too?

    Thanks again.

  4. ok. here is a new issue. I have three polls in a row and they are comming out staggered or stair stepped, see here:

  5. a) For a right-aligned poll with wrap-around text you'd use the same code, replacing float:left;margin-right with float:right;margin-left. Note: 24 was just an example - you can change the number to adjust the space between the poll and the text.

    b) For a centered poll you'd use this:

    <div style="text-align:center;">
    POLL SHORTCODE HERE
    </div>

    c) Div means section. Float left means that the rest of the content will start next to that section. Your three polls came out staggered because of the numbers you added: the numbers need to be inside the sections. In all:

    <div style="float:left;margin-right:30px;">
    <p><strong><em>1.</em></strong></p>
    SHORTCODE1 HERE
    </div>
    <div style="float:left;margin-right:30px;">
    <p><em><strong>2.</strong></em></p>
    SHORTCODE2 HERE
    </div>
    <p><em><strong>3. etc etc etc</strong></em></p>
    <div style="float:left;">
    SHORTCODE3 HERE
    </div>
