Formatting Problems

  1. I inserted some images into my post and used a left alignment. When I entered the text to the right of the image it seemed fine. I wanted each image listed under each other with the corresponding text to the right but after updating the post all the images and text were reformatted and squashed together. No matter how many times I reset everything it auto reformatted after each update.

Please help, this is ruining my blog.

The blog I need help with is leemorleyncscreative.wordpress.com.

  2. Since your site is set to Private, I'll go ahead and tag this for Staff assistance.

  3. Thanks justjennifer.

Thanks Justpi. I read through the the other question and answer and it does sound like a similar problem. Unfortunately I have no knowledge of HTML or any computer programming languages so I would be completely unable to use those little brackets and dashes that make the pages look nice.
I need it to happen automatically and it strikes me as odd that I can spend ages getting my post to look exactly how I want it for the wordpress system to jumble it up.

  4. I need it to happen automatically

    That isn't going to happen.

The alignment icons in the WordPress editor are for aligning text; they are not for aligning images. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment They are used to achieve wrapping text around images on either the right or left hand side, or to display an image that's centered without text on either side of it.

If the text beside the images does not occupy the same amount of space that the image beside it does then the text wrapping will continue and the images and text that follow will have a staggered appearance. That's why justpi sen you here > http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/why-is-preview-different-from-publshed-version?replies=2#post-1030927

Align-left means position left, with the rest of the content wrapping around the right side of the image.
Align-right means position right, with the rest of the content wrapping around the left side of the image.
Align-center means position center, with no wrap-around (= the rest of the content below the image).

Every theme has a maximum displayed image width http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/23/maximum-image-width/ so it's important to keep that in mind when posting multiple images side-by-side. If you want two images to be side by side on the same line start by setting the alignment of both images to left. To prevent the staggered effect what you do is insert the following snippet of code into the HTML editor after each image/text pair:
    <p style="clear:both;">TEXT HERE</p>

  5. The tip timethief gave you about adding a "clear" style to elements that you don't want to continue wrapping is an excellent one.

If you still need further help with this, please provide the title of a specific page or post so I can have a look. Thanks.

  6. Hi there,

Could you like me to a post where you're having this issue, and I'll see if there's a solution we can come up with?

    Cheers!
