Forward wordpress purchased domain to edublogs

  1. I purchased rockinrocket.com from wordpress to reflect my wordpress site at rockinrocket.wordpress.com. However my school tech administrator blocks my students from seeing all things wordpress. But he does not block edublogs.org. Soooooo....I now have a edublogs site http://www.rockinrocket.edublogs.org. How do I get my wordpress purchased domain name rockinrocket.com to now redirect to http://www.rockinrocket.edublogs.org? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is rockinrocket.com.

  2. Change the name servers to point to edublogs - you will need to get the name server info from them - then change the name servers: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/ - there is no additional charge here for that -

Then over at edublogs you will need to do what ever they call Domain Mapping (set your http://www.rockinrocket.edublogs.org? to map to rockinrocket.com)

DON'T DELETE http://rockinrocket.wordpress.com/ - once a name is deleted it is gone forever even from you - no content to move - might put a note sending people to your new site or set the blog to private - save the name for a rainy day

  3. Thank you so much for assisting but, if I may ask, how do I get the name server information from them? Is that information contained here....

    Full-Domain Mapping:
    1) Log into your DNS control panel or send a support request to your registrar (the company or organiztion you’ve purchased the domain name from)

    2) Add either a single “A Record” for your domain to point to the following three IP Addresss: 66.135.63.39, 66.135.63.40, 66.135.63.41. If you can only specific a single IP address per record, you may be able to add three separate A records

  4. IP addresses can be used but the preferred method is to point the name-servers to a domain name.

Edublogs should have some sort of help staff or forum that you can ask for help.
