   I got a free domain when I upgraded. The free domain is oakparkmarriagetherapist. Now I am wishing I would have called it oakparkmarriagetherapy. I am still in the 48 hours to cancel. Does anyone know if I will still get a "free" domain if I cancel this first one? Or am I going to have to pay? Or, even better, is there a way to change the one I already have, rather than cancel and re-setup?

   I don't know what you mean by a free domain and I have been here for over 6 years. The top level domain here is wordpress.com and all blogs here are free hosted on .wordpress.com sub-domains. We can purchase a domain through WordPress.com in two ways:

   1. a domain mapping upgrade
   http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

   2. a bundle upgrade which includes a domain mapping upgrade in it
   http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/

   oakparkmarriagetherapist is not an URL for either a sub-domain or a domain -

   http://oakparkmarriagetherapist.wordpress.com is a URL for a sub-domain that doesn’t exist

   http://oakparkmarriagetherapist.com is a URL for a domain that exists but it's redirecting to this domain http://http://chicagomft.com/

   I have flagged this thread for Staff assistance with sorting this. Please be patient while waiting for their help.

   Thanks again, timethief. What happened was that when I bought the bundle for chicagomft.com, it told me that they were giving me a special offer of a free domain for 1 year, regularly $18, I think. So I accepted the offer and without thinking enough about it, called it oakparkmarriagetherapist.com - for the purpose of just mapping it (is that the right word) to mft.org. But then I realized it would be better to have -therapy.com.

   Sorry, I meant to say chicagomft.com at the end there, not mft.org.

   We can cancel oakparkmarriagetherapist.com for you, but please note that we cannot guarantee that you'll be able to re-register that domain the future.

   Thanks, macmanx! I do want to cancel oakparkmarriagetherapist.com... BUT ONLY if I can still have the free domain that prompted me to do this. If that is possible, then I will accept the offer and cancel oakparkmarriagetherapist.com, and use oakparkmarriagetherapy.com instead. If I would lose the free domain for some reason, then I will just have to leave it as-is. Please let ME know how to proceed now. Thanks so much!

   Wow, I am so impressed with your responsiveness and your assistance - both of you. Thanks so much! I am brand spanking new to blogging and to WordPress, but I am already a fan. Now I have to go school myself in how to work this thing. :) Thanks again.
