I'm trying to get my blog "published" before I go back to the day job tomorrow. I've got the featured photo slider working (thanks to the forum) but the post/photo in the slider is not displaying on the homepage of the blog. I've experimented and none of the test posts I put in the slider go to the blog homepage (they only show up on their respective post pages. Please help.
The blog I need help with is stillvisual.wordpress.com.
This is the front page of your blog http://stillvisual.wordpress.com/ The slider will only appear on that page. I see two featured posts in the slider on the front page of your blog. I'm using Firefox 13. If you cannot see them then you probably have a browser issue.
These are the troubleshooting steps we take whenever any issues like this arise:
clearing your browser cache and cookies > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
confirming third party cookies is enabled http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61416
confirming JavaScript is enabled http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654
confirming Flash is updated http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and if required installing the latest version of Flash http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
resetting your router and modem and rebooting your computer
then logging in using the secure https:// log-in see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Thanks for the primer on troubleshooting. I just made sure I checked all those blocks. No change.
To clarify, I can see the featured slider as well with the two posts. It's gorgeous (and I'm starting a photo blog, so it's key for me).
The issue is that the posts for the slider items are not in the main body of the blog under the slider. They are only on the side under recent posts, July archive, etc.
Still unable to see posts below the slider. The only way I can see posts in the main body of the home page is to make them unsticky, and that removes them from the slider.
I've vetted this issue thoroughly. It may be user error, but at this point, I don't think so.
Problem narrowed down: Making any post sticky removes it from the main body of posts. I've done a few hours of scientific experimentation on this with every combo of featured image, sticky, Insert Image into Post, Image size, etc.
This is the theme for me. I would buy one but if can't get a free theme to behave as advertised, I'm can't afford to gamble on a paid theme. Thanks.
OK, I know I'm creating a one-way conversation, but more info: I switched to the iTheme2 Theme and same issue:
Only Sticky posts are in the slider, Only Unsticky posts are in the Main Body (Sticky posts are supposed to be in the main body too!!!)
