From blog to book: Bookfabrik

  1. Hello. I would like to know if anyone has had experience using Bookfabrik to print their blog as a book. Did you like the service and the product? Would you recommend? Why or why not? I must have been pointed to it by wordpress (so figured it was endorsed by wordpress) but I have not gotten any response to my questions there. It all looks good on screen but I am concerned because they are not answering. It does take a little work to prep, and I don't want to waste my time at Bookfabrik if it has poor reviews. Appreciate any insight on this. I wonder if it would it be faster to copy and paste my blog into a traditional ink-on-paper layout and take to my local printer. Thank you. P.S. The blog I need help with is unpublished, but the one indicated is my main blog.

The blog I need help with is rebekahstudio.wordpress.com.

  2. Thank you, TT, after reading them - I did go to one cool site previously - no, they don't help with my specific question, which is, has anyone had actual personal experience using Bookfabrik? What I read was promotion for the service. I want to hear from anyone who has tried it. I am questioning it because I'm not getting any reply from Bookfabrik, and they are way over in Germany, and I'm in Hawaii. Sounds easy, but is it really? I already configured the book content and design using wordpress.com, thinking there is a simple conversion process that is advertised on the Bookfabrik (Feedfabrik_ site. Thank you.

  3. I think that's a fun idea, and I can see the value of doing it, for certain people, and for memories keepsakes gifts etc :D

I'm not sure I would go that route if I wanted to self-publish in order to sell, but that's just me. I would, like you possibly (for reason of this post :) ) want to see the quality, in my hand, that they gave, before paying :)

If it was though for gifts etc., I wonder if the finished effect would warrant the money paid, or if not similar effects could be done by the person themselves. These new home printers can do all kinds of wonderful stuff nowadays.

Just a thought, good luck with it whatever you choose :)

  4. I've had no experience of it but I would personally (and this is just a personal opinion, not an attempt at advice) steer clear of any company that's not willing to respond to my questions. That's actually the way I try to find out if a company is efficient or not. No response, they don't get my business.

  5. @dovesgold @absurdoldbird Thanks for your thoughts.

  6. I had a shot at bookfabric and they printed me up a copy of my blog - 600 + pages - big as a bible and it cost a couple of hundred.
They always responded to my emails -

  7. Glad for the feedback. Guess I could try again. Thanks.
