I read some place that wordpress.com can not use ftp??? is this for real?

I cant connect to my ftp! (use filezilla)

The blog I need help with is mutualconnection.wordpress.com.

  2. WordPress.COM cannot use FTP. WordPress.ORG can.

http://mutualconnection.wordpress.com/ is a WordPress.COM blog. Therefore you cannot use FTP.

..ok? so now I have to delete my blog and do EVERYTHING from scratch? Or is it possible to move it to org?

  4. You can export your blog from wp.com to wp.org:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#moving-to-wordpress-org

Unfortunately, premium themes work only on wordpress.com: they have been altered to work on our shared platform:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/premium-themes/

Depending on when you purchased your theme, you may be able to get a refund:
    Refunds

We want you to love everything you do at WordPress.com, so we provide a 30-day refund on all of our upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. You can request a refund yourself directly from the Store section of your Dashboard, or contact support to request a refund.

  5. Well, what do you want to use FTP to actually accomplish? Obviously blogging here works for 25 million people. It's possible what you want to do can be done without FTP.

I want to install plug ins and remove the link on the button on the site, can I do this without FTP?

  7. You cannot install plugins at all here. Again, what do you want to accomplish? Most plugins have workarounds for WP.com.

When you say you want to remove the link on the button, could you be more specific? What does it SAY? There are a lot of links on that page and some can be removed and some cannot.

Hi, if you check my blog: http://www.beyondrealityblog.com its the text at the buttom:

"Blog at WordPress.com. Theme: Linen by The Theme Foundry"

Plug ins are countless, i want more facebook and SEO focus than wordpress.com have as an standard.

Can you tell me more about eh workarounds?

  10. Removing the bottom footer text "Blog at...." would be a Terms of Service violation and can get your blog suspended - every blog at WordPress.COM must have that footer including the VIP blogs that Start at $ 20,000 a year for hosting.

  11. As far as SEO goes, when you self-host you can install as many SEO plugins as you wish and you will never equal the SEO of the same site at wordpress.COM.

You need to self-host. Figure $10 to $25 per month depending on your requirements, all costs considered.

  12. This is the support entry that clearly sets out the differences between free hosted WordPress.com blogs and WordPress.org installs for self hosting. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

As thesacredpath has said there's no way you can use SEO plugins on a free standing WordPress.org self hosted install and end up with better SEO than we have on this WordPress.com blogging platform. We have done comparison tests more than once.

ok, thanks for help. But do I need to "self host" for using the "tools".

Google Webmaster Tools? It says I most upload a html file on my site for using it.
Is it no irony that this is on my menu on wordpress.com?

And how shoul a wordpress.com blog be successful if I cant use SEO programs?

  14. But do I need to "self host" for using the "tools".

No. See this WordPress.com support document please.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

Google Webmaster Tools? It says I most upload a html file on my site for using it.

No. Read the link above please, as it explains how to do it on WordPress.com.

And how shoul a wordpress.com blog be successful if I cant use SEO programs?

Please read the response thesacredpath gave you above.

  15. WordPress.COM blogs have more built in SEO than external blogs, period. The reason you don't read about it is, those self-appointed SEO experts can't get paid to tinker with a WP.COM site, so they focus on WP.ORG, where people have less SEO and will pay to increase it. Why not start with the winner?

thanks alot for helping me guys, BUT i did exactly what the guide told me on the webmaster tools (google), my code is "ewsDVoJncs40xdnFUgsxFmDuhNb--6DL4Y2bCGkRUtk" and it doesn`t work!

  17. It does work provided you use the special process for blog verification that have been set up by WordPress.com and the major search engines. Those special instructions for free hosted WordPress.com blogs are found where airodyssey pointed to > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/ No other instructions will work.

i know, i follow it step by step.. is it possible to get another code?

  19. No it is not. You have to follow each step very carefully.

  20. @mutualconnection, what does it say? What is the error you get?

Also, are you putting the code in without the double quote marks like the below?

    ewsDVoJncs40xdnFUgsxFmDuhNb--6DL4Y2bCGkRUtk

Double check the URL you are submitting and make sure that you have not perhaps included WWW in it or made a mistake when typing it in.

the link is OK, i see picture of my blog so I really dont know...

  22. And you are using the code without the quote marks at the beginning and end?

When you click for it to "verify" your site, what happens? What does it say?
